Understanding the Nuances of Language

	GSI offers linguistic expertise in more than a dozen languages and retains a large network of linguists for a variety of services.

Our linguistic experts are trained on importance of sociocultural understanding and critical thinking in translation tasks. Sociocultural understanding is clearly relevant in complex written text translation that may have specialized vocabulary sets or require the translation of a unique written tone. This is also important in translation tasks as seemingly simple as map translation.

Not only do we emphasize the importance of providing high quality translations and related translation services, we also make sure our linguists understand what this level of quality looks like. Subtle differences in Romanization of people’s names, mistranslation of single words, or misrepresentation of author’s tone can drastically change the translation meaning and therefore have a serious impact on its operational use. We address these challenges through our foreign language sociocultural analysis work.
